Video preview window

The video preview window is where you see your 'outgoing' streaming video.

in a chat room
To start your web cam select 'start my web cam' from the 'chat room toolbar'.

All paltalk users stream or 'publish' video at the maximum frame size and frame rate allowable by their internet connection.  Paltalk will automatically choose the best frame size and rate for your connection.

You may manually adjust your frame size and rate, and make other adjustments in the video setup area.  Access the video setup area by selecting 'preferences' from the 'setup' menu on the main 'pal list window'.  You must make these adjustments before using video in a chat room or 'super IM'.  Once you have made initial adjustments there will usually be no need to access the video setup area again.

Your video preview window will be displayed at the best size for maximum video performance.  You can manually adjust it's size in the video setup area.

The preview window also contains a pull-down menu that lets you select various 'overlays'.  Click HERE for more information about overlays.

video strip

The 'video strip' is available in chat rooms or instant message windows.

If you are using the 'video strip' feature, you will see your own video on the right side of the 'video strip'.

To start your web cam select 'start my web cam' from the drop down menu under the self view area on the right side of the 'video strip'.

Once you start your webcam, you will see your image in the self view area on the right side of the 'video strip'.

You can select various overlays for your video by using the 'video overlays' selection on the pull-down menu under the self view area.

You can stop sharing video by selecting 'stop my web cam' from the pull-down menu under the self view area.
